Description:

Crowning a small hill atop the much larger Mission Hill, Ben’s Circular Tower appears to be the surviving remnant of an old stone castle. When children reach the top they find stone seats arranged for sitting and listening to a story. The tower is a memorial for Ben Beland, a young child from the Mission Hill neighborhood who succumbed to cancer, and who enjoyed playing at McLaughlin Playground and visiting the local library. It was designed by the Welsh-born artist Mags Harries and echoes the ruined castles in her home country. The tower was completed in 1994.
