Description:
Blake Edwards is best known as the director of several Hollywood hits, among them Days of Wine and Roses, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Pink Panther series with actor Peter Sellers. But Edwards’s creative pursuits are not limited to film. As an adult, he took up painting, followed by sculpture. This semi-abstract study, reminiscent of a quick sketch, highlights Edwards’s attraction to simple forms and outlines of shapes. The life-sized "Reclining Figure" supports himself on his elbows, as he leans back and looks off to the right, with his left knee crooked up to rest it. The bronze sculpture rests on a black granite base.
