Description:
A simple marker in Gallagher Park commemorates the life and work of Alice E. Gallagher (1883-1940), a Brighton resident noted for her many acts of community service and private kindness. She was the first woman in Boston’s history to be honored by having a park posthumously dedicated to her. The marker was erected by the City of Boston in 1941 and the dedication speech was given personally by Mayor Maurice Tobin.
