Description:
The Dorchester Vietnam Veterans Memorial honors the men of Dorchester who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. A nine feet tall stele at the center of the monument bears the names of the war dead. It is held in the arms of a twelve feet tall broken arch that symbolizes loss and mourning. Stele and arch rest on a five-sided base that represents the Pentagon and the American armed services. Local Vietnam War veterans raised money for the monument. It was also supported by a grant from the Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund.
