Description:
Located in front of Lifberty Mutual's new headquarters, Uplift swirls skywards from the sidewalk. Its flame-like forms curve and stretch, reaching towards the second section of the sculpture, which hangs inside the building behind a curtain of glass. Walking inside, visitors are greeted by steel streamers frozen in an elegant dance, circulating and condensing overhead like so many shining paper clouds. The legerity and delicacy of this piece echos Pearlman's equisite paper sculptures. Uplift is the artist's first large scale work in metal.
This exciting new work infuses the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Berkeley Street with light and movement, visually linking Liberty Mutual and local communities together. Uplift acts as a metaphorical bridge between the new Liberty Mutual Headquarters Building and the surrounding streetscape, stretching from the exterior sidewalk to the atrium of the headquarters.
